ReviveByte

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 27 October 2026

These terms (“Terms”) govern your sale of used computer hardware to ReviveByte, a trading division of Richardson Pacific Limited (Company No. 11277808), 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX (“we”, “us”, “our”), operating through revivebyte.com (“Website”). By placing an order on the Website you (“Seller”) agree to these Terms.

1. About this service

ReviveByte buys used CPUs and RAM modules from sellers in the United Kingdom. We do not sell hardware through revivebyte.com; this Website operates buyback services only.

2. Definitions

  • Item / Items — used CPUs and RAM modules offered to us via the Website.
  • Order — a confirmed buyback request created on the Website.
  • Quote — the indicative price displayed on our price list at the time of Order.
  • Label — the prepaid shipping label we provide (Royal Mail or DHL depending on Order value).
  • Profile — the personal, address, and payment details you store with us.

3. Eligibility

By placing an Order you confirm that you:

  • are aged 18 or over;
  • are resident in the United Kingdom and shipping from a UK address;
  • are the lawful owner of the Items, with full authority to sell them;
  • have provided accurate personal and payment details on your Profile.

We may refuse or cancel any Order at our sole discretion if we have reasonable grounds to believe these conditions are not met.

4. How the buyback works

  1. Select Items from our price list and add them to your basket.
  2. Confirm the Order — this creates a record of the agreed Quote and item list.
  3. Receive a prepaid Royal Mail or DHL Label by email, plus packaging guidance (revivebyte.com/packaging).
  4. Send your parcel within 7 days of Label generation.
  5. Once received, we test your Items in line with our published procedures (revivebyte.com/testing). We aim to inspect parcels within 2 business days of receipt, though this is a target, not a contractual deadline.
  6. Once Items pass testing, we pay you within 1–2 business days via your selected method (PayPal or UK bank transfer).

5. Pricing and price protection

  • Quoted prices are honoured provided we receive your parcel within 7 days of Label generation. After this period, prices may be re-evaluated against current market value and the Order may be repriced or, if you do not accept, cancelled and the Items returned at our cost.
  • Prices on the Website are subject to change at any time without notice. Once you confirm an Order at a Quote, that Quote is locked subject to the 7-day window above.
  • Pricing errors. If a price is displayed in obvious error (typographical or system fault), we reserve the right to cancel the Order, even after confirmation, and will offer the corrected price for your acceptance. We are not obliged to fulfil an Order at an erroneous price.

6. Seller’s warranties

You warrant that, in respect of each Item:

  • you are the sole and lawful owner, free from any third-party claim, lien, finance, or encumbrance;
  • the Item is not stolen, counterfeit, fraudulently obtained, or imported in breach of UK law;
  • the Item is described accurately when you select it from our price list (correct generation, model, capacity, speed where relevant);
  • the Item’s manufacturer markings (e.g. SR / SR-series codes on CPUs, SPD labels on RAM) are intact and have not been altered, abraded, or otherwise tampered with;
  • you have removed any data, software keys, or personal information that may be stored on the Item or its packaging;
  • the sale does not breach any applicable UK export-control or sanctions law.

If we later determine an Item breaches any of these warranties — in particular that it is stolen, counterfeit, has tampered markings, or is subject to a third-party claim — we may withhold payment, retain the Item for handover to law enforcement, and pursue civil and/or criminal remedies. You agree to indemnify us in full against any loss arising from a breach.

7. Data and personal information on Items

You acknowledge that some Items (notably RAM modules) may contain residual electronic state. It is your sole responsibility to ensure no personal data, encryption keys, licensing keys, or sensitive information remains on or attached to any Item before shipping. We accept no responsibility for any data, files, or licences supplied with Items.

8. Identity verification and anti-fraud

We may, at our reasonable discretion, request additional verification before processing or paying out an Order — for example, photo ID, proof of address, or evidence of ownership. This is more likely for high-value Orders, first-time sellers, or where any anti-fraud check raises a concern. We may delay payment until such verification is provided. Failure to respond within 14 days of a verification request may result in the Order being cancelled and the Items returned at our cost.

9. Shipping and risk in transit

  • We provide a prepaid Royal Mail or DHL Label as a convenience to you. Use of the Label is also subject to Royal Mail’s own terms of carriage, which form part of the contract for postal carriage between you and Royal Mail.
  • The Label may only be used for the specific Order to which it relates. Re-using or re-labelling parcels with our Label for any other purpose is a breach of these Terms.
  • Risk and title remain with you until we receive the parcel. Until receipt is confirmed at our premises, you bear the risk of loss, theft, or damage in transit.
  • You are responsible for packaging Items appropriately in line with our packaging guidance. We do not accept liability for damage caused by inadequate packaging, including (without limitation) bent CPU pins, cracked PCBs, dislodged components, or static damage from non-anti-static materials.
  • We strongly recommend obtaining a free proof-of-postage receipt at the post office.
  • If a parcel is lost in transit and you have proof-of-postage, we will assist you in raising a Royal Mail claim, but we are not the contracting carrier and cannot guarantee compensation.

10. Testing

  • All Items received are tested per the procedures published at revivebyte.com/testing.
  • Items must function to the manufacturer’s stated specification and be free from physical damage to qualify for the full Quote.
  • Testing decisions are made in good faith and at our reasonable discretion. We may photograph Items for internal records and dispute resolution.

11. Items that fail testing or are mis-described

  1. We will notify you with a brief written reason and (where helpful) supporting photos.
  2. We will offer either: (a) an adjusted price reflecting actual condition; or (b) return of the affected Item at our cost. This applies to all Orders, including bulk and trade consignments — you never pay to have failed Items sent back.
  3. You have 5 business days from our notification to respond. If we receive no response within 14 calendar days, we will return the Item at our cost.
  4. We will not take responsibility for any failed Item that is lost or damaged after we have arranged return shipping in line with these Terms.

12. Extra or unlisted Items received

If your parcel contains Items not listed on the Order — for example, additional CPUs, RAM, or unrelated hardware — we will treat them as follows:

  • We may, at our discretion, offer a separate Quote for those Items as a supplementary Order;
  • If we cannot or do not wish to buy them, we will notify you and either return them with the rest of the parcel (at our cost where reasonable) or hold them for up to 14 days for collection arrangements.
  • We are not obliged to accept or pay for any Item not properly added to the Website Order at confirmation time.

13. Payment

  • Payment is issued only after Items have been received, tested, and accepted.
  • Payments are made via the method selected on your Profile (PayPal or UK bank transfer).
  • We pay strictly to the details on your Profile at the time of payment. We are not liable for payments sent to incorrect details supplied by you.
  • If you are VAT-registered and your Profile is marked as such, the 20% VAT portion of your payment is released in full once we have either:
    • a signed self-billing agreement on your profile (HMRC Notice 700/62) — in which case we will issue a self-billed VAT invoice on your behalf for each paid Order; or
    • received a valid VAT invoice from you quoting your VAT number for the Order in question.
    Either path is acceptable; self-billing is offered as a convenience to remove the need for you to raise individual invoices to us.
  • Set-off. Where you have multiple Orders open with us, we may set off any amount due to you under one Order against any amount owed by you under another (for example, return-shipping costs on a failed bulk Order).

14. Tax

You are responsible for declaring any income from sales to ReviveByte to HM Revenue & Customs where this is required of you under UK tax law. Where applicable digital-platform reporting rules apply (for example, the OECD Model Rules / UK Digital Platform Reporting Regulations), we may be required to report seller information and aggregated transaction data to HMRC. By using the service, you consent to such reporting where it is legally required.

15. Order limits

  • Minimum Order total: £50.
  • Maximum Order total: £2,500.
  • Maximum 100 units per single product per Order.
  • Maximum 3 open Orders per Seller at any time.

For larger or recurring volumes, contact [email protected] to arrange a bulk agreement with separate terms.

16. Profile lock during open Orders

While you have one or more open Orders (i.e. before payment is issued), your Profile (address and payment details) is locked to protect the integrity of the payment. To request a change while an Order is open, email [email protected].

17. Cancellation

  • By you: you may cancel an Order at any time before a shipping Label has been generated, by deleting the Order from your dashboard. Once a Label has been issued, please email [email protected] to discuss cancellation.
  • By us: we may cancel an Order if the parcel is not received within 7 days of Label generation, if your warranties under section 6 prove untrue, in the event of a pricing error (section 5), if you fail an identity-verification request (section 8), or where we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse.

18. Account suspension and circumvention

We may suspend or close your account, or refuse future Orders, if:

  • you have repeatedly shipped Items that fail testing or do not match descriptions;
  • you have shipped counterfeit, stolen, or encumbered Items, or Items with tampered markings;
  • you have provided false personal or payment details;
  • you have engaged in fraud, abusive communications, or other conduct prejudicial to our business or staff.

A suspended account cannot place new Orders or generate new Labels. Existing in-flight Orders are completed in line with these Terms. Registering a new account in order to circumvent a suspension is a breach of these Terms and a basis for further suspension and, where appropriate, civil action.

19. Communications

  • We will contact you by email at the address on your Profile and via your Profile dashboard.
  • Notices to us must be sent to [email protected] or to our registered address.
  • Marketing communications are sent only with your consent and you may opt out at any time without affecting your Order rights.

20. Limitation of liability

  • Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
  • Subject to the above, our total liability arising out of or in connection with any Order is limited to the agreed Quote for that Order.
  • We are not liable for indirect, special, consequential, or economic loss, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or loss of data.

21. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us in full against all claims, losses, damages, costs, and expenses arising from any breach by you of these Terms, in particular sections 6 (warranties), 7 (data), and 18 (circumvention).

22. Intellectual property

All content on the Website (text, logos, images, layout) is owned by us or our licensors and protected by UK and international copyright. “ReviveByte” is a trading name of Richardson Pacific Limited.

23. Data protection

We process personal data in line with our Privacy Policy. You consent to us holding details of any blocked or terminated account (including address, contact, and payment data) for fraud-prevention and internal record-keeping purposes for as long as is reasonably necessary.

24. Force majeure

We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including (without limitation) postal disruption, supplier failure, power or network outage, fire, flood, strike, civil disturbance, pandemic, or governmental action.

25. General

  • Changes to Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is at revivebyte.com/terms. Material changes take effect for new Orders placed after publication; Orders already in progress remain governed by the Terms in force when they were placed.
  • No partnership. Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, agency, joint venture, or employment relationship between us.
  • Assignment. We may assign these Terms (in whole or in part) to any successor or affiliate. You may not assign your rights or obligations.
  • Third-party rights. A person who is not a party to these Terms has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms (together with our Privacy Policy and any bulk-arrangement terms agreed in writing) constitute the entire agreement between you and us in respect of an Order, and supersede any prior representations.
  • Severability. If any provision is held unlawful or unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remainder remains in full force.

26. Disputes

We hope to resolve any concerns informally. Please contact [email protected] first; we will respond within 5 business days. If we cannot resolve the matter, you retain your statutory rights and any rights to use available consumer dispute-resolution mechanisms.

27. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them.
